Here I am, sitting in front of the computer, with a natural treatment for hair (which I’m not going to divulge yet, lol!). So I tell myself” Why not stick with the same line?”

It occurred to me the idea of a bubbling bath salts, with beautiful color and great aroma. This recipe combines the fun of a bubble bath and the relaxing power of bath salts. It makes a great gift to friends and family, packaged in a glass container, along with a bath sponge.

Color is visible light energy and is used in bath and beauty products to enhance senses and create a mood. Natural earth tones and pastels such as blue, green, and pink can be relaxing, while bold, vibrant colors such as orange, yellow, and red can be warming and energizing.

So, get creative and pick the color that matches best with your mood. You decide whether to add color or leave it out. You can use food coloring found in the baking section of your grocery store (they may be synthetically produced, so I think: if it’s not good when you eat it, it can’t be good to put it on your skin either). In my case, I decided to use Paprika. Yes, like the spice. I love the color but love even more the smell. For all natural choices, explore natural food stores or experiment with your spice rack and herbs.

Here some ideas:

Yellow: Mustard powder, turmeric

Blue or Purple: Blueberries

Red or Pink: Paprika, red clay

Green: Spinach

To extract the color, mix them with an equal part of witch hazel or boiling water, let the mixture steep for several hours, then strain out any solids. Add the colored liquid to the recipe, a few drops at a time, until you create a shade you totally love!

:: Bubbling Bath Salts

1/2 cup castile soap

1 tablespoon of canola oil or almond oil or sunflower oil

Food coloring

6 cups rock salt or coarse salt

Stir the soap, oil, and color together. Pour this mixture over the salt and stir until the salt crystals are evenly coated. Spread the salt in a cookie sheet, covered with wax paper and allow it to dry for a whole day. To use, pour 1/4 cup of the salts under running hot water while drawing a bath. Then…relax…ahhhhh…
